I've barely had it plugged in, but it's basically drag and drop. Apparently there's some software for it to interface with that you can download, and it syncs your contacts etc. I don't believe it has a media browser thing.

I guess that's why I've said that it's not really beginner friendly - iTunes, as bloaty and horrendous it is, is really great for newbies. However the newbies also don't get that you can't "share" music (ha ha ha) ;) and when you have to restore it can be confusing.

Applications I manage through AppBrain, which is a website that syncs your application list - so if I'm on the laptop and want to browse through the lists of apps, I can remove or add and when I go to the phone, it will update according to my preferences that I set on the lappy. hehe.

Intrepid reporter James here, with a further question for the Desire; how do you manage it's applications and music? Is there a big memory hog of a program similar to iTunes, or a far easier drag & drop into a folder method like a USB device? :P

Jump on the market and download one of the many custom keyboards that are free.
Yay Android, Apple would never let you do that.

I don't think it's fair to compare the iPhone 3G (which is nearly two years old) to the latest and greatest from HTC. Two years is a very long time for technology. The 3GS is considerably faster than the 3G, and the next gen "4G" supposedly has the same processor as the iPad, which is constantly being praised for its speediness.

Music I don't mind going through iTunes, as then it automatically puts my latest songs on my phone. But that's just a personal preference.

In regards to your iPhone being slow and unresponsive; try restoring it back to factory settings, then loading all your information back into it. I found that sped up mine considerably.

In relation to battery life, would you say that it's pretty similar to the iPhone's, where you're charging it every day? Or is it more frequent? I ask because you say keeping multiple batteries with you as if they're going to run out halfway through the day...

How good is the application store? Are there lots of decent apps? What sort of stuff is in it?

I'm really interested in your reviews because it's someone I know I can trust, and it's not a "professional" review in the sense that "Oh they gave me a new phone so in exchange I'm going to kiss their ass.". So you can probably expect me to spam you up with random questions about the phone as I think of them >_>

Oh, I should point out that I have nothing against the HTC phone - I hope it's absolutely fantastic. Competition is healthy, and I already know I'll be upgrading to another iPhone (next year, my contract is less than a year in), and the better these phones are, the better Apple will have to make the next iPhone to try and keep ahead :D.
